Your Personal Safety Means Everything

Getting started

What is INTIMATE SELF-DEFENSE?

INTIMATE SELF-DEFENSE provides educational articles, planning tools, and resources about personal safety, preparedness, training, and responsible equipment choices. Our guiding message is Your Personal Safety Means Everything. Learn more on our About page.

Where should I start?

Browse the Blog or choose a topic: Personal Safety, Self-Defense, Training & Fitness, Mindset & Recovery, Safety Tools & Equipment, Emergency Preparedness, or Legal & Responsible Practice. Members can begin with the Personal Safety Plan in the resource library.

Do I need an account to read the blog?

Public articles and informational pages can be viewed without an account. Selected member resources require you to log in.

Is this site an emergency service?

No. This website is an educational resource and is not monitored as an emergency response service. If you need urgent assistance, contact the appropriate emergency service in your location rather than waiting for a reply through this site.

Accounts and signing in

How do I create an account?

Visit Register, complete the required fields, and follow the instructions shown during registration. Use an email address you can access and a strong, unique password.

Is an account free?

The site currently offers free registration and access to the Members Area for logged-in users. No paid membership is required for the current worksheet and activity library.

How do I log in?

Open the Log In page and enter your username or email address and password. After signing in, open the Members Area to access the library.

What if I forget my password?

Use the Forgot Password page and follow its instructions. If an expected email does not appear, check spam or junk folders and confirm you entered the correct email address. Never send your password through the contact form.

Where can I manage my account or profile?

After signing in, visit Account for the available account settings or Profile to view your profile. The options shown depend on your account and login status.

Why am I having trouble logging in?

Check your username or email and password, including accidental spaces. Follow any security or verification prompts. You can try a password reset or another current browser. If the issue continues, contact us with the page address and the error message, without including your password or reset link.

How do I log out on a shared device?

Use the logout option provided while you are signed in. Close the browser when finished, and avoid saving your login details on a shared device.

Members Area access

What is included in the Members Area?

The Members Area includes five printable worksheets and six guided activities. Topics include personal safety planning, a home walkthrough, emergency communication, training reflection, equipment maintenance, travel planning, instructor selection, boundaries, household preparedness, and official-source research.

Why do I see a Log In or Create a Free Account message?

The page you requested is restricted to logged-in members. Log in with your account, then revisit the resource. If you do not have an account, start at Register.

I signed in, but I still see the access message. What should I do?

Open the Members Area again and refresh the page. Make sure you are using the same browser session in which you signed in. If the message remains, report the issue and include the resource URL and browser you are using.

Where can I find newly added resources?

Use the Recently Added section in the member library. Public site updates are also available under Official Announcements.

Worksheets, activities, and printing

How do I print a worksheet or guided activity?

Log in, open the individual resource, and select Print This Page. This opens your browser’s print dialog. You can also use Ctrl+P on Windows or Command+P on Mac. Review the preview and printer settings before printing.

Can I save a resource as a PDF?

Yes. Select Print This Page and choose your browser or operating system’s Save as PDF option, where available. Choose the pages and paper size you need, then save the file to your device.

Why does the printout look different from the screen?

Resource pages use a dark background on screen and a white background for printing. Navigation, the print button, and the site header and footer are hidden in the print layout. Your browser may add its own date, address, or page numbers; adjust its header and footer settings if needed.

Can I fill in answers on the website?

The current resources provide prompts and writing space for your own printed or saved copy. They are not online submission forms, and the resource pages do not collect or save your answers.

How should I store completed worksheets?

Keep completed copies somewhere appropriate for their contents. Share only what is necessary with people who need the information, and avoid putting passwords, access codes, or unnecessary sensitive details in shared copies.

Do I have to finish every activity?

No. Choose the resources that fit your circumstances, skip prompts you do not want to answer, and work at your own pace. These resources are planning and reflection aids.

Equipment links and educational content

Does the site provide personalized professional advice?

The articles and member resources provide general education. They do not replace qualified, hands-on instruction or individualized legal, medical, mental health, or security advice. Use relevant professionals and current official sources for questions specific to your circumstances.

Where can I learn about equipment?

Visit Safety Tools & Equipment or the introductions to Pepper Sprays, Stun Guns, Blades, Firearms, and Security. Review complete specifications, manufacturer instructions, and applicable requirements before making a decision.

What does the affiliate disclosure mean?

Some links on designated pages may generate a commission if you make a purchase through them. These commissions help maintain the site and support the creation of resources. Check the disclosure on the page and review the seller’s own prices, terms, and policies before purchasing.

Does appearing on this site mean a product is suitable or lawful for me?

No. A product mention or link does not establish suitability, legality, or guaranteed protection. Consider your own needs, relevant rules, manufacturer guidance, and appropriate professional advice.

Help and feedback

How can I suggest a topic or report a problem?

Use the Contact page. For a technical issue, include the page URL, your device or browser, and a short description of what happened. Remove passwords, account recovery links, and other private information from any screenshots.

What if a link, button, or page is difficult to use?

Please tell us which page or feature is causing difficulty and what you were trying to do. If possible, mention the browser, device, or assistive technology involved. You do not need to disclose a medical condition to explain an accessibility problem.
